Stanley Furniture Company dates back to 1924 when Thomas B. Stanley a young dairy farmer established this firm. His vision was to create furniture of superior craftsmanship, style and affordability. He began by shipping the best lumber from the Northeast to a tiny town in western Virginia later to be named Stanleytown where he employed fully qualified craftsman. Today, over 1300 associates carry on Thomas Stanley's vision of quality, American-made furniture.

Stanley Furniture was founded in 1924 by Thomas B. Stanley, a farmer-turned-industrialist, who later became governor of Virginia. In 1957, as governor, he hosted Queen Elizabeth on what was called the Royal Visit to Virginia, which celebrated the 350th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown.
